ZOO HELPERS
Taking on the role of Zoo Helper is a great opportunity for young people aged 13 to 15 years. They can work with the animals and gain valuable skills, a good work ethic and be introduced into the workforce. Zoo Helpers learn routine tasks such as helping to set up the Zoo, feeding, cleaning, grooming ponies, using the Eftpos machine and gaining confidence interacting with the public, to further their customer service skills.
This starts as a voluntary position for 3 days where we can assess the individuals suitability, and they can decide if they enjoy coming to the zoo. In order to keep their position, they must commit to a minimum of two days per month, working hours of 9am - 3pm on alternate Saturdays or Sundays, and 1/4 of the school holidays. School holidays are our busiest time so we need everyone on board including the Zoo Helpers. |
Once they are trained up on the tasks of a Zoo Helper, and start to show capability and commitment, they will receive payment as a thank you for their voluntary contribution.
We do realise that occasionally events crop up in the weekends that you would like to attend, there is a pool of 4 x Zoo Helpers. If you wish for a day off, please swap amongst yourselves and help each other out, however you must still contact us with any changes. Additionally, if it is raining please contact us at 8 am to see if you will still be required that day. Parents please note there must also be your commitment to provide transport for your child. |
